Summer fun abounds! First, two big events:

(Photo HPIC – their “mini-tank” is ready for the parade!)

WEST SEATTLE GRAND PARADE: An annual tradition since 1935 is back after a pandemic hiatus. More than 70 entries start rolling, walking, walking, dancing, etc. at 11 a.m. from California/Lander, southern California to Edmunds. The parade site is here; our insights include:
– Everything you need to know
– Preparations behind the scenes
–Nautical entrance
–Why you won’t see motorcycle drill teams

California will be closed south of Admiral to Edmunds; some side streets will be used for staging, especially near the start of the preparatory route. (Note: pre-show updates are on our Twitter feed.) If you have a no parking sign, in California or on a side street, don’t ignore it – parking restrictions start as early as 7am and street closure (with bus reroutes) starts at time for this parade that precedes an event:

DODGER 5K FLOAT: West Seattle Runner (sponsor of the WSB) presents this run/walk on the parade route, from Hiawatha Playground (2700 California SW) at 9:30 a.m. If you haven’t already registered, you can register this morning. And children are invited to organize a free Kids’ Dash at 8:45 am.

Here’s what else you need to know on this busy summer Saturday:
