Massanutten Resort has announced its range of events and offers for the fall season, with a variety of ways for visitors to get out and enjoy cooler weather and mountain views.
In addition to a wide selection of classic outdoor activities to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage, the resort will host the return of its popular annual events, including ValleyFest and Fall Festival, with delicious food, festive drinks, live music and more.
“Autumn is one of the most beautiful times in Massanutten and I am delighted to welcome resort guests as they venture outside to take in the fresh mountain air and experience the exciting events that we have planned for the season, ”said Matthias Smith, Managing Director of Resort Massanutten. “Whether it’s taking a scenic chairlift ride to admire the beautiful fall foliage, listening to live music at the fall festival while soaking in the seasonal flavors or indulging in a zipline adventure. , there is so much to enjoy in Massanutten this fall. ”
This year will mark the 20th anniversary of ValleyFest, Massanutten’s popular beer and wine festival with live music, delicious local drinks, and food and art vendors. The event will take place on Saturday, September 18 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. with live music from artists such as Michael Christopher, DJ Finks, Bombshell RVA and Fleetwood Maced, as well as drinks from local breweries and wineries such as Blue Ridge Beverage, Stable Craft Brewing and CrossKeys Vineyards.
Visitors can also purchase food from various vendors while browsing the creations of local artists.
New for 2021, all tickets include two installments of 12oz beer plus festival admission and can be pre-purchased online for $ 30 through September 17 or at the door for $ 40. All proceeds from ValleyFest will be donated to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce.
The Massanutten Autumn Festival will offer fun for all ages on Saturday October 9 from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. The Funnel Cake cafe and adults can enjoy a variety of beers and wines. Items will also be on sale from local art vendors such as vintage glass garden artwork, canvas and paper prints, fair trade clothing and essential oils.
During the festival, chairlift rides will take visitors to the best views of fall foliage and activities like pumpkin painting and garden games will be available throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $ 15 until October 8 or at the door for $ 20 and cover entry to the event. All proceeds will go to the McGaheysville and Elkton fire and rescue teams.
In addition to the variety of fall events that take place around the resort, Massanutten will offer a range of activities for visitors to get out and explore the great outdoors while taking in the scenery during one of the most beautiful times of the year. . Thrill seekers can get an adrenaline rush at Family Adventure Park with options like the Mega Zip, offering 800 feet of exhilarating plunge, and the new Ridge Rappelling and Climbing Excursion.
There are also many hiking and nature trail options, such as the West Slope of Massanutten, offering over thirty miles of trails that guests can explore on their own or through a guided hike with information on wildlife and l history of the region.
The Massanutten Bike Park will be open from September to October on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with exciting routes for everyone, from beginners to experts. Customers wishing to try the Bike Park can take advantage of the “Afternoon Special” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a Trail-Use ticket at $ 20 and a bike rental at $ 25.
The Bike Park will also host a weekend event on October 2-3 for the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. Children under the age of 18 will receive a free ticket for the use of the ski lifts / trails with the purchase of an adult ticket for the use of the ski lifts / trails.
The resort will offer a range of fall classes, many of which will take place outdoors. From crafts to cooking, there are classes for all ages to learn a new skill or develop a new hobby. Offerings for this fall season include barbecue classes, painted mosaics, jewelry making, landscape art classes with a focus on fall foliage, and the much anticipated street curling lessons.
