College Football Playoff Poster Auction Benefits Indiana Teachers – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana weather

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – College football qualifiers add art to the list.

The 22 for 22 poster exhibit is held at the Indianapolis International Airport. It’s an art auction that will help a special group of people.

Football is king in Indianapolis right now as thousands flock to the city for the National College Football Playoff Championship. The airport is part of the welcoming committee expressing itself through 22 works of art.

“We have so many amazing artists here in the city, so finding 22 pieces of art has been hard work,” said Morgan Snyder, spokesperson for the College Football Playoff Host Committee.

The 22 works of art hanging in the center of the airport speak of football. The organizer said some of Indy’s best talent created them. One of them is Matthew Filer.

“I love the way the Indianapolis art scene is starting to develop and I think this is a great opportunity for that,” Filer said.

He is a graphic designer and was inspired by simplistic movie posters to create his creation: “Icing the Kicker”.

“It was actually a relief. My normal 9 to 5, I do graphic design marketing work, and for a while, I wanted to do a lot more artwork … more artwork for the love of the art, ”Filer said.

The display is a kind of fundraiser. Each piece will be auctioned off to raise money for Teach Indy, a program that provides financial support to educators.

Anyone interested in making an offer will find several ways to do so. Inside Indianapolis Airport, people can use smartphones and scan the QR code next to each image. But if you’re not at the airport, people can just go online.

“It’s amazing that we can host the sporting event at Indy but also at the same time, I think it’s great that we are raising our teachers,” Snyder said.

One of the posters has already received its best bid, but it’s time to bid on the others, Filer said. It was an unexpected opportunity, but he’s grateful to play a role in supporting some of Indy’s best.

“I really like that this has benefited our local teachers. I think teachers everywhere deserve a lot more respect and recognition, ”said Filer.

The winning offers will be announced on Sunday, one day before the championship match.
