ACP presents “Leslie V. Kuenne: A Life in Art”

“A PLACE OF TEA BEFORE THE GARDEN CLUB COMPETITION”: This oil painting by Leslie Vought Kuenne is featured in “Leslie V. Kuenne: A Life in Art”, presented until June 19 at the Arts Council from Princeton.

The Princeton Arts Council now features a collection of paintings, pen and ink drawings and photographic works by Leslie Vought Kuenne.

“Leslie V. Kuenne: A Life in Art” presents a selection of Kuenne’s works produced over the years outdoors, in his Princeton studio, at the Arts Council and at his summer home in Shelburne, Vermont.

“Leslie was a deeply dedicated member of the Princeton community and a gifted painter, designer, gardener and award-winning photographer,” said CAP Artistic Director Maria Evans. “She studied painting and drawing at the Arts Council for many years and participated in several exhibitions in our Taplin gallery. Leslie has found a great deal of solace and solace in artistic creation and the Canada Council has been fortunate to have her as a student, member, board member and friend.

“I first met Leslie in our original building,” Evans continued. “She was laden with supplies and couldn’t wait to get started. I remember her as one of the first to arrive in class and the last to leave. I had just started my career at CPA and over the years I met Leslie organizing galas, painting in oils and watercolors, submitting artwork for the exhibition of our members or just strolling around town with a coffee. She always said hello and stopped to chat and check out what was new. Remembering Leslie is the goal of this show.

The exhibition is free and open to the public until June 19.

The Princeton Arts Council is located at 102 Witherspoon Street. The gallery’s opening hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. at 18 hours; and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information visit artscouncilofprinceton.org.
